Perry Engineering has chosen Larry Stewart as our Safe Employee of the Month for July 2023. Larry has been employed 28 years as a heavy equipment operator. His foreman wrote, “…Larry is very cautious about his job and takes care of his machine. He never leaves trash inside that could roll around and get stuck under a pedal. He will always speak up and ask questions, and if we have a new guy he will watch to make sure they are doing things right. He makes sure his (trench) slopes are sloped back properly and spoils are placed (safely). Larry is a perfect example of a safe, hard working employee.” Larry Stewart exemplifies the Perry Priorities of Safety, Quality, Production.

2022 AGC Certificate of Commendation for Excellent Safety Record

Perry Engineering has received a Certificate of Commendation for Excellent Safety Record in 2022 from the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of America. This is based on having zero lost-workday injuries in 2022. Heavy construction can be a dangerous workplace when safety isn’t given the highest priority. It is our goal for everyone to go home at the end of the day without injury. Only through teamwork and an individual responsibility to work safety can this be accomplished. We congratulate our employees for this award and thank them for their hard work and dedication to safety.

Perry Engineering has chosen Steve Payne as Safe Employee of the Month. Steve has been employed with us for 9 years as a heavy equipment operator. Dennis Brill exemplifies the Perry Priorities of Safety, Quality, Production.

PERRY ENGINEERING NAMED ONE OF NATION’S SAFEST CONSTRUCTION COMPANIES IN 2022 BY NATIONAL CONTRACTORS GROUP

Perry Engineering Co., Inc. was recognized for having one of the nation’s top construction safety and health programs in 2022 by the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC). The association, which oversees the prestigious AGC-WTW Construction Safety Excellence Awards, an annual ranking of construction safety and health programs, noted that 47 other companies were also selected as winners for their commitment to safety and occupational health management and risk control.

“We invest so much time and energy in organizing what is a very rigorous awards program because this is a vehicle for elevating the safety and health of the industry” said Dan Fordice, the association’s president and vice-president of Fordice Construction Co. in Vicksburg, Mississippi.  “By finding and highlighting some of the very best industry safety and health programs, we are seeking to elevate safety and health within the entire industry.”

Perry Engineering was judged and selected as the third-place winner in the Heavy Division, under 400,000 work hours. Fordice noted that there are multiple winners because the awards are distributed for several divisions and categories, based on the amount and type of work performed. He added that the AGC-WTW Construction Safety Excellence Awards winners are selected by a panel of five independent safety and health professionals within the construction industry. “These firms developed and implemented exceptional safety and risk control programs through continuous improvement and maintenance of their safety and health management systems,” said Fordice. Finals judging for the awards program took place during the contractors’ association’s annual convention in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Perry Engineering would like to thank our employees for their hard work and dedication to safety. This is our fifth consecutive CSEA award and it would not have been possible without them. They have truly earned this distinction. Keep up the good work!

Safe Employee of the Month – February 2023

Perry Engineering has chosen James Peer as our Safe Employee of the Month. Jimmy has been employed with us 27 years as an excavator operator. His foreman wrote, “While working backfilling the retaining wall with lightweight aggregate, he noticed an employee using a faulty utility knife. He brought it to my attention and we corrected the situation. He probably saved the employee from an accident. When you see something, say something.” James Peer exemplifies the Perry Priorities of Safety, Quality, Production.

Safe Employee of the Month – January 2023

Perry Engineering has chosen Dylan McDonald as our Safe Employee of the Month. Dylan has worked as a utility crew laborer for 5 months. He was nominated by his foreman who wrote, “Dylan is an exceptional new employee. He came here less than 6 months ago and has adapted very well to Perrry’s safety policies. He is always asking questions and constantly improving his mind and very impressive for his age with how hard of a worker he is and having a safety conscious attitude. He doesn’t need to be told to put on his safety glasses or seatbelt, he just does it. Some guys complain about wearing a face shield to cut pipe, he asks for it. He always has his gloves on. Uses ear plugs when sawing pipe. Overall, he is a great person to represent Perry’s safety culture on the jobsites”. Dylan McDonald exemplifies the Perry Priorities of Safety, Quality, Production.

Safe Employee of the Month – December 2022

Perry Engineering has chosen Juan Cruz as our Safe Employee of the Month. Juan has been employed with us 12 years as a heavy equipment operator. He was nominated by his foreman who wrote, “Juan is an exceptional employee when it comes to safety. He always walks around his machine (for a safety inspection) no matter if he is in a trackhoe or rubber tire loader. He makes sure there is nothing or anyone around the machine that could get hit. He always wears his seat belt, cleans his windows and mirrors. When he greases, he is conservative with it so it’s not pumping out all over the place and creating hazards such as slips or running down side windows on a trackhoe. If he sees an issue or isn’t sure, he will speak up. He is always trying to do his best to ensure the safest and most productive ways possible.” Juan Cruz exemplifies the Perry Priorities of Safety, Quality, Production.
